Have you seen this video of a dog that imagines a glass door where there is none?
In your creative work there are glass doors, and then there are door frames. Sometimes we imagine that there are glass doors in those frames that stand before us, keeping us from our true work, from creative bliss, simply because it’s all that we’ve known. Even when there aren’t really any doors preventing us from moving through, we tell ourselves that there are.
“I could never do that,” and “Nobody has given me permission” are two of the biggest imagined glass doors when it comes to creative work. More often than not, these imagined walls are little more than excuses we tell ourselves, not real doors.
What glass doors are you creating on your own life, versus the ones that are really there?
