“Living a life that’s just about you is kind of a failure, isn’t it? I don’t think you need to change the world, and I don’t think that trying to put a dent in the universe is for everybody; in fact, I think that quote is kinda bullshit. But…I do think it’s important to leave room in yourself for something more than you.”
Frank Chimero said that.
And it’s worth asking ourselves regularly: Is there room inside of you for doing work that’s larger than you? Are you making room for ideas that are bigger than simply “What am I going to do with myself tomorrow?”
If not: what can you do away with to make room? What beliefs, constraints, debts, ideas, or paths, do you need to remove in order to free up some of that room inside of you to do creative work that’s more than just for you?
It’s important to leave room in yourself for something more than you. Otherwise your life is kind of a failure, right?
